Summing up the Apple Event in 300 words.

If you missed the Apple event and you want a summary without watching 50 minutes of video, you are in the perfect spot.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room: ARM. Apple introduced their M1 chips and they claim that it is “The World’s Best CPU Performance Per Watt”. ARM is known for its efficiency so I am not surprised. They also claim that it has 2x the performance of the “Latest PC laptop chip” at 25% of the power which is quite a big claim. Now let’s move to the products.

Mac Mini

This is the cheapest Mac ever and now it is even cheaper (£/$699) and it has the M1 chip. On the Mac Mini page, the M1 is the only thing mentioned. The base model has the Apple M1 chip, 8GB ram and 256GB storage for $699. If you want 512GB storage it is for $899. Strangely, it has a silver colour instead of the Space grey colour. I personally prefer the space grey but I think it should be an option. Also, they switched their Thunderbolt ports to USB4 because of compatibility issues, so goodbye $1000 external GPU.

MacBook Air

There is not much to say about this other than it has a better chip with longer battery life and it has instant wake up. Also it is the same price. Yeah…

MacBook Pro

This is a confusing one. The MacBook Pro is supposed to have more performance and higher-end chip, right?

Apple says: WRONG. The Macbook Pro has the same chip, just with more RAM and storage. And it has touch bar (Don’t tell Apple that no one uses that) and that is it. I do not understand but we will see.

Thank you coming to the summary of the Apple event and I will publish my opinions soon.
